English press, French press, a world between

This morning, before taking the metro Place Bellecour, I went to buy the newspaper "Progress." Progress is a local newspaper circulating in the area of Lyon.

It talks about the news in France, but also in Lyon and its region: economy, politics, news items, social life ...

Apparently, this is appreciated by the Lyon newspaper.

When I read the French press, I realize that this is not the same as ours in England.

In England, the press is rather "highly touted". In France, the press seems more friendly, especially for privacy.

The tone used by the French journalists is softer, more consensual.

Is there less freedom in France with us? I do not know. But this is a real issue.
